A president's task is not to do what is right, but to know what is right.
- Lyndon B. Johnson, 1908-1973, 36th President of the United States

I'm going to deviate from my usual post content today because today's quote has relevance to the events unfolding in Washington, the inauguration of a new president.
How did this particular quote get selected? Would you believe almost randomly? Appropriate quotes come up unexpectedly when I choose my quotes. During the selection process, I do not pay too much attention to the dates for the quote content. I do not search my database of quotes for a particular passage to fit the day. The goal is to make sure I have a quote from each of my five main Avenues every week. I set my search criteria and use them as they come up. And, often times, the quote will show up that will be appropriate for a particular day, person, or event. That's all there is to it.
One of the greatest satisfactions I get from the daily Avenues to Success e-mailing is the occasional reply (or sometimes misdirected forwards) that lets me know a particular quote really meant something to the subscriber.
This is the Avenue to Success for 01/20/09
