My answer to ... Why did you start blogging?

I was looking for an easy, inexpensive way to compliment my motivational quote service for college students, Avenues to Success. Since the email format is short, I wanted a way to give my subscribers some information about the quote author and I felt a blog trumped a web site.

I've found the blogging has a simple, free-flowing structure, that allows flexibility to expand into other related topics to help the students and their parents.

A new direction

Boy, its been a long time since I did anything with this site. Probably because I don't really know how to use it. I'm going to test it out as a sounding block for ideas on how to utilize Avenues to help people and organizations.

I have a good inventory of quotations that I have been sending out to subscribers for 10 years. That's right, I've been doing this for 10 years. The trick is to use them to benefit more people.

This can be accomplished by modifying the business plan to expand the universe of clients, and types of clients.

Anyone can see where I've been by following the category "About Avenues to Success."  Comments are welcomed and encouraged.

Encouragement

Today is the National Day of Encouragement and a sort of Eureka day for Avenues to Success.

For eleven years I've been send daily quotes to subscribers, primarily college students enrolled by their parents, and have not really come up with a good word to describe the quotes.

I've used motivational, personal development and other terms to try to summarize  what  we are  trying  to  accomplish with the service. And, here it is: We are trying to encourage our subscribers to succeed by giving them words of wisdom to help them along.

Starting over

Another distraction took me away from keeping up with promoting Avenues to Success. Fortunately, 10 years of sending my daily motivational quotes developed into a habit. From the comments of some of my long-time subscribers, they have become a habit for them, too.

The purpose for this blog is to act as a sort of journal to help me make the changes to expand the availability of Avenues. I would like to keep it as a fund raising tool for educational groups. It started out as a way for colleges and universities to support the parent organization's effort to help students. My current thinking is to come up with ways to make it an easier, and more flexible.  The  blog  will  help by  writing  what  I  want to do.  It  will  trigger action.

I'm going to leave the FAQ and other current information on this site for the time being. This is to let those of you who happen to stumble onto this blog to see where I'm coming from, and maybe offer some suggestions for a direction.

Who can enroll to receive Avenues to Success?

Anyone can enroll to receive Avenues to Success.

The primary market to benefit from the service is the college students. However, we realize the  quotations are also meaningfull to anyone interested in personal development, and we welcome them to join us.

Even though they may not be enrolling because of a particular sponsor, a subscriber can choose a listed sponsor or enter their own college choice to receive a portion of the subscription price.
